President Donald Trump is signing an executive order today to bring the Presidential Fitness Test back to public schools.
Trump will be joined by professional athletes when he signs the order, per CNN.
The Trump council on sports, fitness, and nutrition will be joined by golfer Bryson DeChambeau, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, and former NFL great Lawrence Taylor.
The Presidential Fitness Test was first introduced by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966 and lasted until 2012 when President Barack Obama abandoned it.
Trump’s revitalized program will “reward excellence in physical education and develop criteria for a Presidential Fitness Award.”
It will be administered by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Health and Human Services secretary.
“President Trump wants every young American to have the opportunity to emphasize healthy, active lifestyles — creating a culture of strength and excellence for years to come,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said.
