There has been speculation on the internet recently about Nick Saban returning to coach college football.

Could this actually happen? Does he still have the drive? He seems to be doing pretty well in his new ESPN College Gameday gig.

Saban retired in January 2024 after a half-century coaching career in which his teams won seven national championships.

Now one of his former quarterbacks, Greg McElroy, who is pretty well-respected in the sports media, is suggesting that Saban may still be interested in coaching.

"A very much in the know person that I have a lot of respect for and have spent a lot of time around, and just really, really admire — they seem to think Nick Saban is not done coaching," McElroy said Monday. "He's pretty adamant that he thinks Nick Saban will be coaching again."

McElroy then reportedly doubled down when pressed about his sources.

“If it wasn't someone notable, I would never say a word. … He is of firm belief that Nick Saban will coach in college football again."

Is ole St. Nick seriously considering a return to coaching? As of now, of course, these are just rumors.

But they’re picking up steam. The fact that McElroy is talking about it seems… interesting… to say the least.

Saban’s name is often floated as a candidate for some sort of college football commissioner or “czar” but to come back simply to coach the game?

We could only hope it wouldn’t be in the SEC. But it almost certainly would be.

Who’s on the verge of getting fired? Billy Napier?

Florida???

Oh God.
