Mike Elko Trolls Texas With Hilarious Fight Song Joke

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko didn’t miss his moment at SEC Media Days.
After Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was mistakenly introduced to the Aggie War Hymn on Tuesday– sending Longhorn fans and social media into a frenzy, Mike Elko stepped up to the podium with the biggest shit-eating grin on his face.
“For all of you who had ‘The Eyes of Texas’ as the song I was walking out to, you lost your bet,” Elko opened with, drawing laughs from the approximately 12 people in attendance.
In all honesty, I understand why the folks at SEC Media Days messed up Sark’s walkout song– A&M’s ENTIRE fight song is about Texas, so I get the confusion.
To Sark’s credit, he handled it like a pro. Exchanging hand shakes with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, who later called the blunder “a bit of a fumble.”
With Texas and Texas A&M set to face off the day after Thanksgiving in Austin for the first time since 2010, I’m sure the fight song fiasco will be brought up many more times leading up to the Lone Star Showdown.
