Just How Toxic Is The Tennessee Fan Base?
By Cody McClure
How toxic do you consider the Tennessee fan base to be?
When it comes to people/groups of people, toxic is defined as “very harmful or unpleasant in a pervasive or insidious way.”
Now our online people certainly live up to this definition. Vol Twitter — or Vol X as it is now called — is full of toxic folks.
You might even say it oozes with toxicity.
But are we toxic in real life too? How would you come up with metrics to determine said toxicity?
Well, a group called Elite College Football recently put out their list of the most toxic fan bases in the sport we all love.
Their list goes as follows:
10. Michigan — 6.8/10
9. Florida State — 6.9/10
8. Alabama — 7.6/10
7. Texas — 7.8/10
6. Tennesse — 8.2/10
5. Miami — 8.3/10
4. Colorado — 8.5/10
3. Georgia — 8.8/10
2. Florida — 8.9/10
1. Ohio State — 10/10
So per Elite College Football, which with a name like that must be a reputable outlet, we rank in the Top 6 of most toxic fan bases.
Close to championship level, but not quite the elite of the elite.
Just like our football program. Seems fitting.
How would you rank the fan bases? Do you feel more or less toxic than sixth? Let me know!
Here’s how I’d personally rank the Top 10 most toxic fan bases with my own personal weighted scale:
T10. Notre Dame — 8.4/10
T10. Auburn — 8.4/10
9. Oklahoma — 8.5/10
8. Michigan — 8.6/10
7. Alabama — 9/10
6. Texas A&M — 9.1/10
5. Georgia — 9.4/10
4. Texas — 9.5/10
3. Ohio State — 9.7/10
2. Florida — 9.9/10
1. Tennessee — 10/10
We are the best/the worst.
