Butler is headed from West to East Tennessee.
Tennessee added a key in-state piece to its 2027 recruiting class on Thursday as three‑star athlete Jaden Butler announced his commitment to the Volunteers over Vanderbilt, Indiana, and Missouri, per Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
Butler, a 6‑foot‑1, 190‑pound standout from Brownsville, is ranked the No. 529 prospect nationally in the 2027 cycle and a top‑25 player in Tennessee. A two-way star at Haywood High School, Butler has excelled at both wide receiver and safety at an elite level, but signs point to the Volunteer state native to start his Tennessee career on the defensive side of the ball.
Originally, Butler planned to take a full slate of spring and summer visits, including an official visit to Vanderbilt in June, but opted to shut down his recruitment early in favor of staying home and joining the Vols.
He is still slated to take his official visit to Tennessee the weekend of June 5, giving the staff an early opportunity to solidify his commitment into the summer.
With Butler on board, Tennessee now holds five commitments in its 2027 class, continuing a strong early push to lock down top in‑state talent.
