BREAKING: Whataburger Is Coming To Cumberland Avenue

By Cody McClure

You’ve already heard about In-N-Out coming to Knoxville.

You’ve already heard about the new double decker Taco Bell coming to Cumberland Avenue.

Well now we’ve got more breaking restaurant news concerning The Strip.

Whataburger is making its way to campus.

It will be located next to the Raising Cane’s in the lower level of the TENN apartment building, according to a report from the Knoxville News Sentinel.

The Sentinel reported that Cumberland Avenue Merchants Association treasurer Helen Morton confirmed the news in a text.

There is currently no opening date set.

Tennessee has several Whataburger locations open already in the mid-state, but this is huge news for our area.

Some say Whataburger is just a SONIC burger with McDonald’s fries but I disagree.

It’s what a SONIC burger used to be before they switched the bun and went cheap on the beef.

Think of a SONIC burger in the 90s. More like that.

And yeah, maybe they’ve just got kinda knock-off Mickey D’s fries, but they offer spicy ketchup.

Spicy ketchup. How fun.
