5-Star Hoops Recruit Gushes About His Visit To Rocky Top

Matthew Able is a 5-star shooting guard who could potentially end up a Vol.

He’s on the recruiting market now after being released from his NLI commitment to Miami as a result of former head coach Jim Larranaga stepping down.

Able visited Tennessee over the weekend and seemed to be quite impressed based on comments he made to Rocky Top Insider on Sunday.

“Tennessee is an amazing school so it was pretty easy to set up a visit,” Able reportedly said. “It was just an unofficial but I definitely wanted to see the campus and the game day environment.”

“That’s the biggest arena, biggest college arena I’ve been in for sure … I think it’s one of the biggest in the country. Just the environment in terms of the fans, it was energetic from the very beginning. The orange out was really amazing. And of course the game itself, that was probably, if I had to say, the game of the year in college basketball overall. So I think I chose the best game possible to go to and that was just a really exciting experience overall.”

Able went on to call Rick Barnes a “super legendary guy” and a “really likeable person” who he’s enjoyed his conversations with a lot.

Having Able attend such an amazing game should bode well for the Vols. It’s doubtful he will have a pure basketball experience better during his upcoming visits.

Able is set to visit Alabama on March 5th and Baylor on March 8th.
